DB MAX DUATHLON

So today was my first race of 2012, the Chilly Duathlon organised by DB Max.

Castle Coombe race circuit is notorious for it's windy conditions due to the location of this exposed venue. But we were so lucky, with blue sky's, no wind and mild temperatures. Rare conditions for a British mid-february.

After the 10km running race in the morning, over 200 duathletes set off at 12:15 for a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike and another 2 mile run.

With athletes from many different athletics and triathlon clubs, universities and independent athletes, the field was varied but all just as determined. PB's were set all round, partly thanks to the rare but kind weather conditions.

Despite lingering cold and consequently a less than ideal week of training, I was delighted with my results, setting myself a course PB of 51.13, almost 9 minutes off my time from the previous year.

Brilliantly organised, smoothly run and a great race whether your the next Brownlee or just wanting some Sunday morning fresh air. Check out the DB Max website for all their 2012 events :)
